Shakeology Detox Cleanse!

So, I know it's been ages since Ive blogged, life gets busy and I just haven't been able to find the time...no more excuses! I'm here today to document my shakeology detox cleanse which I'm super excited to start. I've heard nothing but good things about this cleanse, but of course I have to try it myself to believe it ;)

The Shakeology 3-day cleanse is a creative way to use Shakeology as a cleanse to detox the body of toxins. It is like no other cleanse out there today. One of the things that makes it so different from other “cleanses” is that the Shakeology Detox Cleanse is a “performance” cleanse-- meaning it is designed to be done along with a workout. Not only is it super easy to follow, but it will not deplete your body of essential vitamins and nutrients bc of the shakeology! How Is the Shakeology Cleanse Program Different?
The Shakeology cleanse program distinguishes itself from other “cleanse” diets by its high nutitritional value. Each day you are consuming 800-1100 calories (give or take depending). Most cleanse diets can cause diarrhea and deterioration of muscle by simply depleting your system of the protein and nutrients that it needs to function (example- maple, broth, lemon, apple cider, etc diets). If your body isn’t given the nutritional resources it needs, it begins to look internally for energy by breaking down existing stores of protein. This may result in a quick weight loss, but also a large drop in energy leading to fatigue, irritability, and even diarrhea and/or vomiting. It will also cause a loss in muscle mass because of the depletion of protein from the body.
The amazing thing about the Shakeology cleanse program is that in one powder packed scoop, it supplies your body with all of the nutrirional building blocks that it needs for one meal. While reading up on the cleanse, I found this list of must-haves and must-dos:
SHAKEOLOGY CLEANSE ESSENTIALS

* 3 Shakeology shakes per day
* 2 cups of green tea per day
* 1 or 2 pieces of fruit per day (optional)
* 1 salad for dinner-can include fish or white poultry
* No dairy or extra sugars
* Drink 2 to 4 liters of water every day
* Only use low-fat dressings- opt for oil and vinegar or a light vinegarette
* 2 snacks before/after any of the major meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) remember- no additional sugar!
* Fruit is optional, however, some of you will need the calories, depending on the intensity of your workout and the physical shape you are currently in.
* Power-workout participants (those who are already super conditioned) are recommended the higher numbers of calories
* For maximum results, do NOT use additives
* Dinner salad may include WHITE GRILLED PROTEIN-poultry or fish only


Daily Regimen:

1 cup of green tea to start the day

Breakfast:
1 scoop Shakeology (140 calories)
1/2 cup of fruit (60 to 90 calories)-optional
Ice to taste
8 to10 oz. of water

Snack 1 (85 calories): 1 piece of fruit (apple, pear, orange, banana, berries, etc.)

Lunch: 1 scoop Shakeology (140 calories) Ice to taste 8 to 10 oz. of water 1 cup of green tea or a detox tea

Snack 2: (you can have the second snack before or after dinner) 1 scoop Shakeology (140 calories) Ice to taste 8 to10 oz. of water

Dinner: Salad with grilled white fish or poultry (roughly 340 calories)
Greens-3 servings of vegetables, plus 4 oz. of grilled white meat (fish or poultry)
2 tablespoons of dressing-no more!

*if you're like me and must eat before bed, opt for fruit or veg... Remember- no sugary snacks.

When to perform a shakeology detox cleanse-
-When you start a new workout program
- When you feel as if you are plateauing
-When you've gotten off track with eating
-When you need the extra boost if energy and are tired of feeling "blah"
-It is recommended to do a cleanse during a "recovery week" of workouts, not when you are at your highest intensity workouts bc the caloric in take will not be enough and in this case, you WILL be depleting your body. Do NOT do the cleanse in the middle of p90x or max workouts for insanity.

Personally, what I am doing is going back to "recovery week" workouts aka core and cardio balance for the 3 day cleanse. That way, I will be keeping the workout light, but also once I pick up the intensity post cleanse, I will be preventing myself from plateauing since my body will have to work extra hard to pick up the pace with max workouts and asylum workouts.
